Code Name Aspen Description & Features:Project Aspen is to be the first of a line of long range remote controlled jet aircraft. with a targeted flight range of 150 miles controlled from a stationary ground flight control system. upon completion Aspen should be able to take off from a U.A.B. (Unmanned Air Force Base) and travel 150 miles, land at another U.A.B. re-fuel, take off and make the return flight to its home base. all guided by on board navigation.
Aspen will be human controlled and is not an auto piloted aircraft. all functions of the aircraft will be run by the pilot control station. The aircraft will have 3 on board cameras streaming live real time video to the pilot control station, one forward facing camera from the cockpit of the aircraft, One downward facing camera with a 360° rotational view of the ground, and the third mounted at the rear of the aircraft facing forward with a small rotation to be used for monitoring the unmanned refuel and used as an alternative in flight view.
Other features include; altimeter, artificial horizon, fuel meter, gps tracking, flight speed indicator, flight heading gauge, mini turbine with 200lbs of thrust, electronic ignition and rpm monitoring, retractable landing gear. automated flight systems check, air traffic monitor, night vision for night flying, on board computer, emergency auto pilot in case of radio loss. parachute in case of engine failure, mini generator powered by a P.T.O. shaft from turbine. battery backup for gps locater, and so much more, the list grows daily.
